For decades, more than 30,000 customers worldwide have relied on the high-performance SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise (SAP ASE) and SAP IQ database systems to power their businesses. These customers include 90 percent of the top 50 banks and security firms.
Our deep roots in these markets and our Sybase heritage continue to represent a critically important segment for SAP.
SAP is continuing to invest in and innovate on the on-premise SAP ASE, SAP IQ, and SAP Replication Server solutions, and is also adding cloud innovations. Efforts continue to enhance the traditional characteristics of these technologies: high performance, availability, business continuity, and data security – all at a low total cost of ownership.
Commitment to On-Premise Customers, Introduction of Cloud Services
Organizations require stability in their current on-premise investments. At the same time, customers are seeking innovations that include new cloud capabilities and opportunities while protecting existing investment and skills. SAP remains committed to the long-term enhancement, maintenance, and support of on-premise SAP ASE, SAP IQ, and SAP Replication Server, and plans to release new cloud solutions as part of SAP HANA Cloud Services.
New SAP ASE Release Planned in 2020
We are planning a new SPS release for SAP ASE 16 in 2020. Additional releases will be supported in accordance with product matrix availability. SAP announces future product versions, options, and maintenance extensions with significant lead times in consideration of customers’ changing requirements.
Investment in New Managed Cloud Services
We are making additional investments in SAP ASE, SAP IQ, and SAP Replication Server as part of our recently announced SAP HANA Cloud offering. Details and delivery dates will be published soon. SAP HANA Cloud will allow existing SAP ASE and SAP IQ customers to move their on-premise workloads to the cloud:
- SAP HANA Cloud will include a managed XOLTP service, based on SAP ASE, and a relational data lake service, based on SAP IQ.
- Customers will be able to move existing SAP ASE and SAP IQ landscapes, including SAP Replication Server, into SAP HANA Cloud with compatibility to the current releases.
- Customers will benefit from the additional services offered by SAP HANA Cloud – such as data virtualization or advanced analytics capabilities – through one simple gateway to all their data.
SAP ASE, SAP IQ, and SAP Replication Server are stable and proven products and we are delivering the ability to deploy them on multiple hyperscalers. Organizations can choose to maintain their on-premise investment or to utilize the cloud for efficiency and additional services in the multi-cloud SAP HANA Cloud offering.
We value the investment customers have made in SAP ASE, SAP IQ, and SAP Replication Server products, and we want to make sure these investments will continue to pay dividends — both now and well into the future.
